• In advance of tomorrow’s league meetings in Montreal, NHL president Clarence Campbell said they had received 12 applications for expansion teams from nine US and three Canadian groups but that no further announcements were likely to be made on the topic following the meetings.

• Campbell added that expansion teams were not expected to start play in either the 1965-66 or 1966-67 seasons.
