  * The Western Hockey League announced they would expand to Los Angeles and San Francisco, with play to begin in those cities in the fall. The San Francisco franchise was awarded to Vancouver hotelier [[Coleman Hall]]. Hall said he would negotiate rights for the team to play in the Cow Palace.
